Alumni HOME

Officially opened on June 7, 1996, the Salisbury University Alumni House has a large social room, library, foyer, student workroom, warming kitchen, a conference room and eight offices. The house was designed, built and decorated by companies on the Delmarva Peninsula.

 

  • Designed by the Chincoteague architectural firm of Hanbury, Evans, Newill, Vlattas & Company
  • Built by Willow Construction of Easton
  • Decorated by Mitchell's Furniture and Interiors of Laurel

Plaques throughout house recognize contributors.

Audubon pictures are proudly displayed throughout the house.

Sound system throughout the house donated by Dan Gladding.

First floor:

Diploma from alumna of first graduating class, Mildred Elizabeth Richards Parks. The ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the Alumni House occurred 70 years to the day after the date of the diploma. Mrs. Parks was present at the ceremony as was her classmate, Rebecca Wiley Goslin. The brother of Mrs. Parks once lived in a home on this site.

Dining table and chairs are from the original dining hall in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Student work table (solid walnut) circa 1934, from third floor dorm rooms in Holloway Hall, donated by former SU professor, Dr. Maurice Bozman '56 and his wife, Carole.

Durfee Grandfather clock donated by Klein and Mary Lee Leister '43.

Framed colonial map and brass sconces above the library mantle donated by Anne Miller.

Silver Tray, Coffee/Tea Service and Silver Punch Bowl given by Pam Winters Dolle '76 and her husband Rudolph (Bunky) '95.

Second floor:

Phonathon Room, Conference Room, offices of Alumni Relations/Annual Giving Program Coordinator and Vice President of University Advancement.

Directions to the Alumni House
From the West: Follow Route 50 East into Salisbury. Take a right immediately after the bridge onto Mill Street (fifth light in Salisbury). Continue straight through the two intersections. Do not bear right or left. This street becomes Camden Avenue. The University is located on the left in approximately one mile. As you reach the campus, at the intersection of Camden and West College avenues, proceed on Camden Avenue. The Alumni House is the seventh house on your right.

From the North: Follow Route 13 South into Salisbury. Follow Business Route 13 (rather than the bypass) to the city and proceed four miles to the campus, which is located on the right. Turn right onto West College Avenue and left on Camden Avenue.
