Faculty Advising

One of the many support services offered to students at Salisbury University is academic advising.  SU uses a faculty advising model, with the guiding principle that effective advising occurs when there exists a partnership between the advisor and the advisee.  Academic advisors are provided for all matriculated full-time degree seeking students.  Students who have declared a major are assigned a faculty advisor from their major department.  Students who have not declared a major are assigned faculty or professional advisors by the Office of Academic Affairs.  Faculty academic advisors are listed in the Student Center area of GullNet.

Students must confer with their assigned academic advisor during "Program Planning" in the fall and spring semesters.  It is during these conferences that course selections for the upcoming semester, general education and major requirements, long term academic planning, and academic issues are discussed.  It is the responsibility of the student for meeting all University and departmental major graduation requirements.

One of the greatest planning resources available to students throughout their entire academic career is the Academic Requirement Report.   The Academic Requirement Report can be accessed by logging into GullNet and selecting Menu > Self Service > Student Center.  In the drop down menu of the Academics area students can select Academic Requirement Report to view degree requirements.
