Financing your education is one of the most important life decisions you and your family face. The Financial Aid Office at Salisbury University is prepared to assist you in the process of securing the resources necessary to afford your college education.
Investing in a college education is often a major financial decision requiring many students to look beyond their own limited resources for assistance. SU students receive funds for college in the form of grants, loans, work-study and scholarships. Awards are based on financial need and/or academic ability.

2013-2014 FAFSA
Submission:
If you are interested in receiving Financial Aid for
the 2013-2014 academic year, the 2013-2014 FAFSA (Free
Application for Federal Student Aid) should be filed with
the federal processor at
www.fafsa.gov
now. Priority funding consideration will be given to
those students whose processed FAFSA results are received in
our office by March 1, 2013.
NEW:
Federal Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility
information
The
amount of Federal Pell Grant funds a student may receive
over his or her lifetime is limited by a new federal law to
be the equivalent of six years of Pell Grant funding. This
recent change affects awards for the 2012-2013 school year
and beyond.
Award Notification Timeline
- Fall 2013 Incoming student notification has begun.
- Current and Readmit 2013 student notification
has begun.
- Spring 2014 Incoming student notification will begin in
July.
Beginning with the 2012-2013 award year,
the United States Department of Education has made
a significant change to the documentation requirements for
applications selected for verification. Verification is a process to confirm the information provided on an
applicant's Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA). Since most applicants can quickly and easily access IRS data through the Data Retrieval process
during FAFSA filing,
the government no longer considers it reasonable for an institution to accept anything less reliable than direct
IRS supplied evidence for verification of income data. Therefore, if an applicant selected for verification has
not successfully transferred information from the IRS, or one who did transfer the information but then changed it,
the Department of Education expects the institution to require the applicant/parent, to provide an official 2011
IRS tax transcript (schools can no longer accept personal copies of tax returns for the 2012-2013 academic year).

University highly recommends the use of the IRS Data
Retrieval option during the initial filing or when
subsequent corrections are made to your 2012-2013 FAFSA. Read more...

Notices
- Salisbury University is committed to
helping families meet the costs associated with a university
education. However, due to the current economic
conditions, it is difficult to estimate State aid from the Maryland
Higher Education Commission (MHEC). Therefore, please note that any
State aid funding provided to students in their financial aid
packages is estimated and subject to funding availability.
If funding is reduced or discontinued, we will notify you as
soon as possible.
- Please check your GullNet TO DO list to
see if you are missing any financial aid documents. Those items
will be in an "Initiated" status.
- All current student
Missing Information Letters and Financial Aid Award Notifications
are sent to the
University e-mail
account. If you wish for other people to also
receive these notifications please add their e-mail address as "OTHER"
to your GullNet account. Be sure the "OTHER" addresses are kept up to
date.
- E-mail is our MAIN form of communication. Failure to check e-mail,
errors in forwarding e-mail, and returned e-mail (from "full mailbox
or unknown user" errors for example), will not excuse a student from
missing announcements or deadlines. Please read your e-mail daily.
