Stafford Loan Step-By-Step

Step One: Complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling

  • Student - Go to StudentLoans.gov. (Note: This is the U.S. Department of Education’s official student loan website, which has a .gov extension. Do not use StudentLoans.com, which is a commercial website.)
  • Click on Log In - Student logs in with an FSA ID and password. If the student borrower does not already have an FSA ID, they will need to create one through fsaid.ed.gov   
  • Click on Complete Loan Counseling. 
  • Click on Entrance Counseling START. 
  • Select Salisbury University
  • Select applicable Student Type 
  • Complete all steps and submit. Our office will be notified, electronically, within 1-2 working days.
     
     
      

Step Two: Complete Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note

  • Student - Go to StudentLoans.gov. (Note: This is the U.S. Department of Education’s official student loan website, which has a .gov extension. Do not use StudentLoans.com, which is a commercial website.)
  • Click on Log In - Student logs in with an FSA ID and password. If the student borrower does not already have an FSA ID, they will need to create one through fsaid.ed.gov  
  • Click the Complete Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note).   
  • Click the MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans START.   
  • Complete all steps.
  • Make sure to click “Submit” at the end of the MPN to ensure the information is electronically sent to the Direct Loan Servicing Center. Our office will be notified, electronically, within 1-2 business days.
