Energy Management: Residence Hall Cooling Policy

The following policy has been developed for use in the Residence Halls to help conserve energy while providing a comfortable environment for the residents.

For the cooling season, (from the start of the fall semester thru the 1st week of October and usually from the 1st week of May thru final exams) air conditioning will be available when the outside air temperature is above 70 degrees.  When the outside air temperature drops below 70 degrees the air conditioning systems will be turned off.

During the middle of October, University personnel will begin to convert the cooling systems over to heat.  At this time air conditioning will no longer be available until the spring conversion back to air conditioning which usually takes place the 1st week of May.
