 Students Goals: 

  1. To become a proficient instructor of biology to students regardless of their social, economic, religious or cultural background

  2. To ensure the success of my students on the biology HSA’s

  3. To prepare myself for the increase of L2 learners in my school so their achievement is guaranteed

  4. I want to feel comfortable teaching all types of students, regardless of their needs

  5. A master's in TESOL will broaden my teaching abilities for all learners (as well as L2 learner)

Students Goals:

  1. An understanding of how language works
  2. Strategies to help ESOL students
  3. ESOL certification
  4. Contacts for networking/future info about ESOL strategies/programs/services
  5. I would like to learn more about the laws to make sure ESOL students aren’t being slighted and ultimately I’d like to be in a position to help create programs that are actually beneficial to the ESOL population

  1. Obtain knowledge and understanding of how to teach and learn new languages
  2. Set a foundation to build upon in the areas of ESOL
  3. Improve writing and research skills
  4. Explore all job opportunities as it relates to ESOL

       Students Goals:
  1. To develop an understanding of the language learning process

  2. To improve my instructional skills by developing and applying language learning strategies

  3. To impact the lives of students by assisting them in achieving mastery of the English language

  4. To provide every student with the accommodations they need for effective learning to occur

  5. To create social awareness and cultural sensitivity within our diverse school, community, and nation

      Students Goals:

  1. Enhance my teaching

  2. Further advance my knowledge of linguistics and language learning

  3. Help my county with a shortage of teachers that are ESOL certified

  4. Meet others with similar interests

  5. Form relationships with professors at SU

  1. To acquire new concepts in my quest for knowledge

  2. Gain a repertoire of strategies that can be used in my classroom

  3. Assist in changing the perception in small communities of ESL learners
  4. Make a difference in the lives of ESL learners
  5. Pursue a doctorate in linguistics

  1. Greater knowledge of teaching strategies for ESOL students

  2. Gain TESOL certification
  3. Grow as a teacher

       Students Goals:

 

  1. It is my hope to ascertain the knowledge needed to better meet the needs of the ESOL students in the Wicomico County school system

  2. I also hope to use the information gained to help create an ESOL program in the county that has more continuity with regard to curriculum and testing for ESOL students
  3. Parental involvement is crucial to help these students in the classroom thus after-school programs, technology nights, homework clubs, and Perks for Parents programs would be implemented to encourage the building of this bond
  4. To better meet the diverse student population in the county, staff, in-service programs sharing ESOL strategies and cultural awareness would also be of utmost importance and could be implemented during faculty meetings or teacher in-service days

 

Valerie

      Students Goals:

 

  1. Gain a better understanding of ESOL students’ native language and culture

  2. Learn effective strategies to facilitate student success

  3. To be a resource at my current school for other teachers and staff members
  4. Gain strategies to implement within the Inclusion classroom setting
  5. Develop a network of resources in the ESOL educational community

1.       Gain teaching skills and strategies to better include the ELL students in my classroom

2.       Broaden my knowledge base so that I can empower teachers in my school to help ELL students

3.   To create a network of people or colleagues with whom I can share information and get support

4.      Extend my knowledge of other cultures

5.   Gain a better understanding and appreciation for the English language through research and study
