Washington Center Internship Program

Salisbury University partners with The Washington Center (TWC) to give you the opportunity to live, study, and work in Washington, D.C. while earning academic credit. TWC provides a multitude of internship opportunities for undergraduate students of any discipline in the DC area while also providing an academic experience that emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and leadership development. During your semester or summer with TWC’s Academic Internship Program, you’ll engage in three main program components:

  1. Internship (Receive 4-8 SU credits for IDIS 490 TWC Internship):
TWC partners with hundreds of internships in D.C. (and around the country) and works with you one-on-one to select the internship that’s right for you. Once you begin your internship, you’ll be working on projects related to your interests with a supervisor who cares about your growth and success.
  2. Academic Course (Receive 4 SU credits for IDIS 325 TWC Course):
One night a week, you’ll take part in one of TWC’s courses so you can fulfill a requirement for your major or minor, delve deep into a topic you’ve always been interested in, or experience a course taught by a practitioner in the field.
  3. Career Prep (Receive up to 3 SU credits for IDIS 280 TWC Professional Development):
This programming is a mix of professional development workshops, career exploration sessions, networking events, and one-on-one career advising designed to help you make the most of your internship experience and gain the tools and insights you’ll need to launch your career.

Past students have landed internships working for The White House, CNN, Fox News, Congress, EPA, etc., and have often been hired following graduation.

The Washington Center Internship program is coordinated through the Interdisciplinary Studies program in the Fulton School of Liberal Arts. To learn more, contact TWC Campus Liaison Dr. Joshua Bolton (jpbolton@salisbury.edu) or TWC directly (info@twc.edu).
