Expand Your Artistry

Music, Theatre & Dance

The programs that make up the Music, Theatre and Dance Department enable you to develop your artistry within the context of a broad-based education aimed at developing the skills essential for professional success. You will grow as an artist, and you also will be able to think, talk and write about what you do, and how it relates to the society and world around you.

Our Music Program is nationally accredited and supports both students seeking an understanding of music as well as those pursuing careers in the industry. All majors perform with SU’s acclaimed ensembles, which range from chamber choir to jazz to world drum.

Our Theatre Program is anchored in the classical tradition, the program examines theatre through aesthetic education and criticism, creative expressions, and historical and sociocultural perspectives. Several mainstage performances are produced annually.

Through the Dance Program you can experience dance as an art form and develop technique and teaching competencies. All students may audition for inclusion in the SU Dance Company, which produces ballet, ethnic, jazz, modern and musical theatre dance works.
