We are always looking for new field agencies and field supervisors!
To become a field supervisor for MSW-level students you must:
have an MSW
have two years post-MSW practice experience
be employed by the agency
be licensed at least at the graduate level
be on-site for at least 50% of the time the student is assigned to be there
work at an agency that will provide adjustments of your work assignments to permit adequate time to develop and implement the student's practicum
To become a field supervisor for BASW-level students you must have:
completed an MSW program OR have a bachelor's degree in social work with two years post-degree social work experience (those in the second year of an MSW program may also serve as field instructors) OR expectations for the MSW/BASW degree expectation can be made for those individuals with experience in social service delivery
competence in social work practice and in the area of supervision
a willingness and ability to plan student tasks and experiences with competency expectations
a willingness and flexibility to provide regular supervision for the purpose of instruction, review, and discussion of student feelings and needs
Candidates interested in becoming Field Instructors begin the process by completing the Field Instructor Application Form, which is submitted to and approved by the Director of Field Education. The Field Instructor must have a willingness and flexibility to provide regular supervision for the purpose of instruction, review, and discussion of the student’s feelings and needs. In addition there must be the ability and willingness to participate in a minimum of one required conference with the student and Field Liaison each semester. The Field Instructor will also need to participate in Social Work Department hosted trainings on topics specific to Field Education.
