Program Mission and Goals

A.   Mission Statement

The Athletic Training Program is dedicated to providing a quality education to students who are enrolled in the athletic training major at Salisbury University. The Athletic Training Program is a recognized leader in providing outstanding classroom instruction in the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The Athletic Training Program provides an extensive clinical experience that will prepare them for a professional career as a certified athletic trainer.

B.   Program Objectives

  1. The Athletic Training Program prepares students for the Athletic Trainers’ Board of Certification Examination upon successful completion of the Athletic Training Program and graduation from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training.

  2. The Athletic Training Program ensures that each student is offered the opportunity to complete all pre-requisites and core course requirements in a sequential and timely manner.

  3. The Athletic Training Program operates in respects to the Standards set forth by the NATA’s Code of Professional Ethics and the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer’s Standard of Professional Practice.

  4. The Athletic Training Program develops the student’s critical thinking skills and fosters an appreciation for cooperative relationships within the medical and allied health community in providing health care to patients.
