The purpose of the Appropriations Board is to appropriate and distribute student activity fees to student organizations. To achieve this goal the Board works closely with the other two branches of student government: the SGA and SOAP (Student Organization for Activity Planning). Each year the Appropriations Board receives budget requests from individual student organizations. Funds are subsequently awarded on an annual basis, although supplemental requests may be made throughout the school year. The group consists of up to five voting members, all enrolled as current, full-time students at SU. Each must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5. New members are chosen through a resume/interview process conducted by the remaining Appropriations Board members.

The Conflict Resolution Club was established in fall of 2001. We have three major responsibilities: (1) The club sponsors the "One Person Can Make a Difference" lecture series, by helping the Conflict Center recruit inspirational, political speakers (such as: Dr. Arun Gandhi-Ji, President F.W. de Klerk, UNs under-secretary-general: Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, and other global leaders). The lecture series remains our most primary focus area, in efforts to make an impact on the University. (2) We promote the Center for Conflict Resolution's mediation facilities. We are now equipped with professionally trained student mediators and we raise awareness of mediation on campus via our Mediation Referral Program. This gives students an opportunity to bring ANY conflicts--from professor-student conflict to student-parent conflicts--to mediation to get help from a diverse mediator group. (3)We help educate students in and new to the CADR major on: benefits of the CADR major; practicum, employment and career opportunities; and of various events, activities and organizations.

We are Squawkappella, a student-run acappella group! We love having fun but we also love competing. We have competed in the International Competition for Collegiate Acappella at Johns Hopkins University for the past 2 years taking home a Best Soloist award and in Aca-Idol at 'Singstrong' in Reston, Virginia. We have traveled up and down the East Coast for Invitationals with other schools, performed on stage with 'The Sing-Off's' Street Corner Symphony, adopted a highway, cleaned up the community, performed all over campus for our fellow students and faculty members, but most of all we have become a close-knit family through our love of music. Squawk practices 2-3 times weekly. Be sure to e-mail us for any audition information or to have Squawkappella perform at your event!
