Issues that surround the nature of community and the place it plays in our work and public lives are of special interest to me. I teach courses in Politics, Medical Ethics, ethics and Ancient Philosophy. I have published articles on the death and dying movement, on assisted suicide and a Jean Chardin painting. For two decades, my book reviews have appeared in the Sunday New York Times Book Review and my own book, Neither Beasts Nor Gods: Civic Life and the Public Good was published in 1998 by Southern University Press. Along with a colleague in the Political Science department, I have initiated and became co-director of Salisbury University’s new Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE).
