Competition Winners and Judges

Student Entrepreneurship Competitions Sponsors

The Salisbury University Student Entrepreneurship Competitions are actually three competitions in one with an annual prize goal of $100,000. Businesses sponsor the competitions at all levels. The three competitions are:

"Invest in my Idea"
"Gull Cage"
"Richard Bernstein Achievement Award"

The Bernstein Award portion of the competition sponsorship opportunities are currently filled. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the "Gull Cage" competition and the opening event the "Invest in my Idea" poster competition. We are in search of multiple sponsors in order to provide prizes, motivation and encouragement to our participants.

The "Invest in my Idea" Poster Competition in which students will have the opportunity to present their business ideas in a poster style format. Select members of the local Community will have the opportunity to invest in the ideas. Awards and prizes will be given to those ideas that receive the greatest investments. There will be 15 winners that move on to the Gull Cage from this event.

The "Gull Cage" A Shark Tank Competition students pitch their ideas to judges for prizes and awards and possibly an investment in their idea. This competition offers cash awards and services to the top 4 businesses and they move on to the final competition!

The "Richard Bernstein Achievement Award for Excellence Business Plan Competition" The winners from the Gull Cage make a ten minute presentation of their business plan, with a ten minute question and answer with the judges and a ten minute coaching/feedback session. The creator of the winning business plan receives $20,000. This will be determined by the judging committee based on their assessment of the quality of the business plans.

Also awarded are Business Sector Awards. Businesses may sponsor a Business Sector Award and be given the opportunity to be a judge in the "Invest in my Idea" round (optional) and select the winner of their Business Sector award. Please contact Bill Burke wpburke@salisbury.edu for details.
