Upcoming Events, Conversation Groups, and Study Abroad Trips:

  • AU NID DES MOUETTES - Every Thursday 1:15 - 2:15 at the Cool Beans Cafe in the GUC. Conversation for students, by students.  For all levels.

  • LA SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇAISE - 1st Fridays: Sept. 5, Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 5 at Adam’s Ribs (Rte 13 in Fruitland) 4:30-5:30PM - Conversation with students, faculty, Francophone friends in the community - for intermediate and advanced levels

  • The Spanish Club will meet every other week starting on the 11th of September at 7pm in Fireside LoungeTertulias will be held once a month on Tuesdays at Plaza Tapatia, Fiesta Mex, La Tolteca, or Las Margaritas.
     
  • September 24, 2008"The Baltimore Consort" Renaissance musicians perform "Cancionero! Romances, Villancicos, and Improvisations of Spain, circa 1500."  With singer Jose Lemos   (Holloway Hall, 7 pm, free).
     
  • September 17, 2008:  Hispanic Heritage Month Festival of Foods, featuring Chilean folksinger, guitarist and songwriter Isabel Umanzor.  (Commons Bistro, 4:30 - 7:30 pm).
     
  • October 11, 2008:  Tastes of Spain Benefit Dinner, featuring regional Spanish tapas, paella, and desserts.  (Nabb Research Center, tickets $50.00 per person).
     
  • October 18, 2008:  Oktoberfest Festival of Foods, featuring the music of Pugsley.  (Commons Bistro, 4:30 - 7:30 pm).
     
  • October 30, 2008:  "Don Quixote" by Dr. Keith Brower, Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series. (Holloway Hall, Great Hall, 7 pm).

    November 2, 2008:  Wor Wic Community College (Guerreri Auditorium, 3:30) FRENCH FILM: “THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY”  (LE SCAPHANDRE ET LE PAPILLON).

    November 5, 2008:  FRENCH FILM: TO BE AND TO HAVE (ÊTRE ET AVOIR). (Henson Hall 243, 3:30 pm). 

    November 5, 2008:  French Festival of Foods, featuring the Stereo Kings.  (Commons Bistro, 4:30 - 7:30 pm).  $9.97 + tax; free for students with an SU meal plan.

    November 8, 2008:  “AN EVENING OF FRENCH MUSIC AND POETRY” (Fulton Hall 112, 7:00 pm).  Sponsored by the Dept. of Music & the Dept. of Modern Languages and Intercultural Studies.

    November 9, 2008:  FRENCH FILM: HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT (À LA FOLIE... PAS DU TOUT).  (Caruthers Hall 103, 7:00 pm). 

    November 10, 2008:  “ADVENTURES IN STUDY ABROAD” Come speak with SU students Ashley Eschenberg, Angela Hammond and Emilie Staubs about their recent study abroad experiences.  (Caruthers Hall 103, 7:00 pm).
  • November 19, 2008:  Lecture by Conflict Scholar in Residence Dr. Arun Gandhi, grandson of legendary peace advocate Mahatma Gandhi.  (Holloway Hall Auditorium, 7 pm)
