SU & CEDEI

Founded in 1992, in recognition of the 500th anniversary of the meeting of the Old and New Worlds, The Centro de Estudios Interamericanos is a not-for-profit institution of higher learning, dedicated to the study of American languages and cultures.  It is accredited by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador and co-sponsors programs with several colleges and universities in the United States.

Salisbury University is a member of the University System of Maryland and is located on Marylandís beautiful Eastern Shore.  It offers 42 undergraduate degree programs and 13 graduate programs to almost 7,000 students.

Since 1994 faculty from Salisbury University together with colleagues from Frostburg State University and St. Ambrose University have been leading students to the CEDEI in Cuenca on the popular Intersession in Ecuador program every January for a short-term experience in the Andes.  In 2003 SU again partnered with St. Ambrose University for the first Semester in the Andes program.  This ongoing cultural exchange between the CEDEI and SU has led to a friendship that both institutions treasure.
