Speaker Program & Schedule

ROOMS

Wicomico Room: Just inside the entrance as you enter from the main parking lot for the Guerrieri Center.

Nanticoke Room: Second floor of the Guerrieri Center. Take the elevator on the right near the end of the hall as you enter from the Guerrieri parking lot. Exit and turn left for the room.

Worcester Room (Spring Luncheon): Second floor of the Commons Bldg. Use the elevator near the entrance to the first floor dining area. Exit on second floor, turn left, and go to the farthest room.

PARKING

Parking in the Guerrieri (off Dogwood) and Asbury Church lots requires a green parking permit. These can be purchased at the side entrance of the College Police Station at the corner of Power and Wayne Sts. (Power St is one block north of Milford St). Tell the clerk you are with the IRP.

The IRP Program Committee arranges a speaker for each meeting. Speakers include regional business and civic leaders, SU faculty members, and others, who share their expertise (sometimes outside the bounds of their specific discipline) and life experiences. Lectures are informative, fascinating and entertaining.

Speaker Schedule Spring 2012

Unless otherwise noted, all meetings will start at 2:00 p.m. Tuesdays in the Nanticoke Room, Guerrieri Center, Room 236.

Special note: On February 14th and 28th the meeting room will be in the Worcester Room in the Commons. On March 6th the meeting room will be in the Montgomery Room in the Commons.

Special Winter Alert: Any meeting being canceled due to snow or bad weather will coincide with the closing of Wicomico County Schools – not the Salisbury University closing.

JANUARY 24

Arnold Torres, REBIRTH OF THE MAR-VA THEATER – The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the theater will share the history of the 1927 Vaudeville Theater and Silent Movie House in Pocomoke City, Maryland. We will hear about its restoration into a state of the art – performing arts center for the residents of the Eastern Shore and the part it is playing in the revitalization of downtown Pocomoke City.

Keith Koehler, N.A.S.A.’s public relations officer will share with us the past, present and the future of the space facility located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Laura Baldwin, with the MD Environmental Service, will give a video presentation on the restoration of Poplar Island in the Chesapeake Bay. From the verge of extinction from erosion, today it is a national model for habitat restoration with the use of dredged material.
