The
Perdue School of Business in collaboration with the
Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) in Grenoble, France
offers students the opportunity to experience business
studies in the heart of the European Union. Grenoble is
a university town located at the foot of the Alps and is
the center of France's high tech industries as Grenoble
is considered the "Silicone Valley" of France. Paris is
the French capital and a leading world cultural center.
The program runs for two weeks
during the January semester. The next winter program in
Grenoble, France is scheduled for January 2010.
CLASSES:
While abroad students attend classes
each morning at GEM, Monday-Friday. Afternoons are
reserved for site visits to local firms, cultural tours,
guest speakers, and independent research/study.

INSTITUTION: Grenoble Ecole De Management (GEM) is
an independent school of business founded in 1982 by the
French Chamber of commerce. GEM is accredited by both
AACSB and EQUIS, the European accrediting agency for
leading schools of business. As one of France’s leading
business schools, GEM offers undergraduate degrees as
well as post-graduate degrees at the master and doctoral
levels. Although all fields of business are taught
there, the school has a particular focus on technology
management. GEM is consistently ranked among the top 10
business schools in France and considered one of the
best in Europe as well.
EXCURSIONS: The program features a free weekend
for students to explore Grenoble or other parts of
Europe if the opportunity arises. Site visits will
consist of tours and visits to companies in and around
Grenoble and Paris. Students finish their time in France
with a three day stay in Paris where they will have an
opportunity to explore the city.
HOUSING:
Students will
stay in tourist-class hotels located near the exchange
school, public transportation, local eateries and
tourist attractions.

COST: Total cost of the business and culture
program is estimated at $3,800.
Final cost will be determined in
fall 2009. The price includes: housing, all breakfasts and two
dinners, round trip transportation-plane and train,
all tuition and instructional costs,
site visits, ground transfers and taxes and
assistance by program staff traveling with group.
DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT
INFORMATION:
An initial deposit of $1500
is due at the time of application. This deposit is part
of the total advertised cost of the program. Once a
student is academically admitted by the faculty
director, the initial non-refundable deposit is due to
the Cashier’s Office. The student will be automatically
enrolled into the study abroad course. The University
Billing Office will then bill each registered student
for the total cost of the study abroad program (less the
deposit amount) through the regular university billing
system. Standard University deadlines for withdrawals
do not apply to study abroad programs.
Once the published
Application Deadline occurs, the accepted student is
responsible for the entire amount of the study abroad
program charge.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Application
forms are available from the faculty director. Completed
application forms are currently being accepted by the
faculty director. Admission is competitive and enrollment is
limited to 30 participants.
Students will be admitted on a rolling basis until the
program is full. Students will be selected based on
business discipline, GPA (a minimum of a 2.75 required),
written essay and 2 letters of recommendation. All
students must be in good conduct standing with the
university.
