Program Requirements
Students wishing to major in
Interdisciplinary Studies Individually Designed Track must
have an Interdisciplinary Studies Proposal
Form approved by the Interdisciplinary
Studies Coordinator. Students are
required to write a goal statement to show a rationale for the
cohesion of the areas of study and describe any potential career
goals suitable for the program proposal. The program proposals
should list any lower-division prerequisites to the courses
chosen for the Interdisciplinary Studies major and note the
possible 300/400 level courses being used to complete the
Interdisciplinary Studies major. The Interdisciplinary Studies
Individual Track major policies and requirements include:
- Students must complete
a minimum of 30 semester hours in 300/400-level courses with
grades of C or better between two or three approved academic
disciplines.
- Students are
responsible for completing all prerequisites courses
required for the courses chosen for their Interdisciplinary
Studies major.
- Upper-division courses
(300/400 level) completed prior to receiving program
approval may or may not be used for the Interdisciplinary
Studies major, and no more than 18 such hours may be
credited toward the major.
- At least 12 credits
must be taken in residence – at Salisbury University and as
a declared Interdisciplinary Studies major.
- No more than two of the
courses used to meet the Interdisciplinary Studies major may
be used to meet minor or other major requirements.
- Any deviation from an
approved program must be approved in writing by the
Interdisciplinary Studies Coordinator.
