Meet a few of our majors . . . |
|
|
Kathleen Collison– Combining
Art, Science and Philosophy “My goal in college is to learn subject matter
not in 1 specific field but through a combination of mixed
education. Philosophy will be studied to better understand the
mental aspects of the world and as contrast to that, the
sciences will explore the physical world. Art, however, is my
greatest means of expression. With my IDIS major, I will be
able to combine and explore all of these passions.”

Ben Nye – Combining
History, Physical Education, English
“I’d like to graduate from Salisbury
University with a broad liberal arts education. Being an
Interdisciplinary Studies major would be the perfect way to
accomplish that. Being able to study English, Physical
Education, and History would help me become what I aspire to be
in life; a teacher and a coach. After Salisbury University I
plan to coach youth sports, attend graduate school at either
Georgetown or John Hopkins to further my studies in
Interdisciplinary Studies, become an instructor at a community
college, and hopefully seek a doctorate degree someday. So,
earning a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies would be the first
step in helping me get to where I want to be in life."

Charles
Davis – Combining Psychology, Social Work and Sociology
“I want to combine SOWK/PSYC/SOCI in order to gain the
educational background necessary for me to graduate and open my
own outreach center. My goal is to specifically work with people
who need assistance in addictions, therapy and other general
counseling needs.”

Jason Capobianco – Combining
English, Health, Exercise Science
“I want to combine my passion in
physical fitness and film and satisfy my quench for creative
writing. Possible career interests would include exercise
videos. I feel these disciplines will prepare me in my career
for working and communicating with people and working in a
fitness realm.”

Rebecca
Conway – Combining English,
Philosophy, Environmental Issues
“I want to combine
PHIL/ENGL/ENVA because I have always had a
passion for PHIL and ENGL and nature. I want to
help the environment and combine my interests in
critical thinking and have the opportunity to
work in a field that helps the environment
and/or helps others in teaching ENGL skills.
I feel this Interdisciplinary Studies degree
will allow me to explore all of these passions
and provide me with experiences and knowledge to
pursue my wide array of interests upon
graduation."
