The Honors Program sponsors various trips throughout the year at little to no cost to our students. Here are a few of our recent trips:
Denver, CO, November 2014
The Honors Program director, assistant director, and student workers attended the National Collegiate Honors Conference in Denver, CO. Here they participated in information sessions about how to incorporate successful examples of honors activities from around the nation.
Washington, D.C., September 2014
As part of a food-themed Critical Thinking and Writing course, students from three LLCs visited the National Museum of American History's "Food: Transforming the American Table, 1950-2000" exhibit and participated in a walking food tour of the U-Street neighborhood, famed for its soul food and Ethiopian cuisine.
Assateague Island, MD August 2014
The Honors Program starts off every year with an orientation for the LLCs at Assateague Island National Seashore.
Niagara Falls, NY April 2014
Seven students traveled north to Niagara Falls, NY in April to attend the Northeast Regional Honors Conference.
New York City, Spring 2014
The Honors Student Association sponsored a trip to New York City in early May 2014. Honors students who attended Honors Program events, participated in community service, and attended Honors Student Association meetings were eligible for the free bus trip to NYC.
Washington, D.C., Spring 2014
As a part of the 2013-2014 LLC experience, both LLCs took a course titled Navigating Space and Place. Nearly 40 students traveled to Washington, D.C., to visit the National Museum of the American Indian.
New Orleans, LA, November 2013
Dr. Buss and three students traveled to New Orleans to attend the annual National Collegiate Honors Conference. They presented at poster sessions, a panel discussion, and attended information sessions on how to incorporate ideas from other Honors Programs.
