Women in Technology

Despite increases in the number of women working in many STEM fields, they are still significantly under-represented in engineering, IT and other high-tech sectors. While employment opportunities in IT and other high-tech fields continue to grow, only one-third of the IT workforce is female, and an even smaller percentage of women work in tech management positions.  Studies have suggested that part of this gender gap is due to a lack of understanding by many young women of what is needed to prepare for high-tech careers.

On Thursday, February 27th, Salisbury University and NetApp will host Women in Technology, an event designed to provide students with the opportunity to connect with female IT/STEM professionals, learn about tech jobs, and network with like-minded students and professionals.  The event is free of charge; transportation assistance is available for high schools that need support to get students to SU.
