Summer Internship Opportunities at the U.S. Army Edgewood

The U.S. Army Edgewood
Chemical Biological Center (ECBC), Research Development and
Engineering Command (RDECOM) is accepting applications from
Minority Undergraduate Students to fill summer internship
positions at the ECBC, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland.
Established in 1917, ECBC is the nation’s premier national
resource for chemical and biological defense solutions.

ECBC is comprised of over 1,500 highly-trained employees
(government and contract personnel) with scientific, engineering
and technical support backgrounds.
PROGRAM DETAILS
ECBC is seeking applications for summer internship appointments
for minority undergraduate students from various Colleges and
Universities to conduct research at designated ECBC engineering
and research laboratories. The
intent of the Minority Undergraduate Summer Internship Program
is to provide those who have limited engineering and applied
research experience an opportunity to participate in integrated
science, technology and engineering solutions at one of the
nation’s premier chemical and biological defense laboratories.
All students must be pursuing studies in ECBC-related
science or engineering fields and have completed at least their
sophomore year class requirements.
Chosen applications will work in conjunction with an ECBC
mentor to conduct science and engineering research in areas of
interest to ECBC.
Students will present their results of findings during the last
week of his/her appointment.
ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be an
undergraduate student from an underrepresented minority
population that is enrolled full-time at a College or University
AND must plan to
reside within a commutable distance to APG, MD for the duration
of the internship.

Applicants must have
completed their sophomore year class requirements prior to the
beginning of an appointment.
·
Applicants must be
pursuing studies in one of the following majors:
biology,
chemistry, engineering, environmental science, occupational
safety, physical science or physics.

Applicants must have a
cumulative semester/quarter GPA of 2.5 (based on a 4.0 scale) in
all completed undergraduate courses in their major field of
study.
·
Applicants must be a
U.S. citizen.
Program participants will be selected based upon academic
records, recommendations, engineering and applied research
interests and compatibility of background with applied research
programs and projects at ECBC and/or the host installation.
The initial appointment is full-time for
10 weeks during the
summer.
Participants will receive an hourly salary of $14.59.
Relocation expenses are not authorized.
