Departments

The Henson School of Science and Technology offers a wide array of degrees:

Biological Science.  In addition to a traditional degree in biology, the Department of Biological Sciences, in cooperation with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, offers a dual degree in biology and environmental/marine science.  The Environmental Health Science Program, the only one of its kind in Maryland, is based within this department.

Chemistry.  The Chemistry Department provides a broad selection of programs four students seeking careers in chemistry and biochemistry.

Geography and Geosciences.  The Department of Geography and Geosciences offers programs ranging from mapping sciences to land use management and regional/urban planning and development.

Health Sciences.  The Department of Health Sciences consists of programs in medical technology (clinical laboratory sciences) and respiratory therapy.

Mathematics and Computer Science.  The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers programs in pure and applied mathematics, including concentrations in computer science and statistics.

Nursing.  The Department of Nursing offers three tracks to a Bachelor of Science in nursing:  one for traditional undergraduate students, a second  for registered nursing students, and a third for non-nursing college graduates.  Students interested in graduate education can pursue a Master of Science degree as a clinical nurse specialist, family nurse practitioner, or nursing administrator.

Physics.  The Physics Department's general physics or microelectronics track prepares students for diverse careers in high-technology fields and graduate studies in physics or electrical engineering.
