The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Theatre/Design and Production. This is a full-time tenure-track position.
Primary Job Duties: Teach courses in technical direction and design; design and/or execute designs for theatre and dance productions; and, supervise student works and assistants. Utilize effective teaching and classroom management strategies that enhance the success of diverse learners. Additional responsibilities include ongoing professional development and scholarly/creative activity and service to the department, school, and university – including recruitment activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Masters of Fine Arts with a strong pedagogical background. Expertise in at least two of the following: technical direction, lighting/sound design, scenic design. Secondary expertise in at least two of the following: scene painting, lighting or sound/media technology, makeup design, stage or arts management. Strong record of teaching undergraduates.
Preferred Qualifications: MFA or Ph.D.; minimum of three years teaching experience; a record of professional engagement; broad knowledge of design and production techniques; and excellent communication, leadership/organizational, and collaborative skills.
