Coffee Cafe Supervisor

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for a Coffee Café Supervisor.

Primary Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Retail Assistant Manager, the Food Service Supervisor leads contingent and student workers in our Coffee Café to provide exemplary customer service and quality food options in a clean, hospitable environment in the Guerrieri Academic Commons. The Supervisor must be agile to adjust workforce and assignments to keep up with varying demands of the operations. This position supports an atmosphere of operational excellence through modeling highest levels of customer service, teamwork and efficiency in food and labor and other associated expenses. This position is considered essential and is expected to work in emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years food service experience; one year must have been as a lead or supervisory role. Must have a working knowledge of Point Of Sale (POS) systems as well as Microsoft Excel and Word. Must possess or be able to acquire ServeSafe certification within six (6) months of hire.

General knowledge of leadership in customer service oriented food operation. Demonstrated ability to understand and apply standards of quality and quantity production including: food preparation, presentation, portion control, labor utilization and responsiveness to customer requests and concerns. Knowledge and application of federal, state and local health department sanitation and food handling regulations is required. Thorough knowledge of and skill in the use of food service equipment and materials. Ability to organize and supervise the work of food service operations and control workload to assure quality service; to assist in preparing and serving food; to prepare and maintain written records and reports; to lift, transport and stock food service supplies, materials and equipment. Must have leadership, team-building, problem resolution and follow-through as well as oral and written communication skills. Must be well organized, possess the ability to multi-task and be a strong team player with demonstrated excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in retail food sales & operation/customer service preferred. Experience in an institutional setting preferred.

This is a full-time non-exempt State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary will be $30,962.
