Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of IT Support Associate.
Primary Job Duties: Support Academic and administrative computing functions of the University by configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining/updating computer hardware, software, and limited network components/cabling in academic classrooms, computer labs, and faculty and staff offices. Additionally, this position will also function as a Technical Support/Service Representative as needed by identifying, analyzing diagnosing, and resolving campus computer problems received via telephone or other means.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED and two years of full-time PC support experience maintaining desktop computer hardware and software systems in an enterprise environment; One year of full-time, professional experience providing Help Desk technical and customer service support to computer users.
Ability to troubleshoot, install or replace computer equipment and peripherals including hard drives, memory motherboards, video cards, monitors, and printers; Ability to test network cables and network ports; Ability to troubleshoot/test, download, install, and update computer software; Ability to interpret and explain the use of new hardware and software to users; Knowledge and experience installing and updating both computer operating systems and application software programs including Microsoft Office Suite software; Ability to stay abreast of the latest computing technology and innovations; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal relationship skills; Comprehensive understanding of PC systems and software; Ability to work independently and in small groups; Ability to communicate and work effectively both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, parents, and computer vendors; Knowledge/understanding of computer hardware, software, and technology terms and phrases; Ability to converse and reason with users who have varying levels of understanding of computer concepts and equipment; Ability to assist in the mentoring and training of student employees.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or Bacheor’s degree; Two years of full-time, professional experience providing help desk technical and customer service support to computer users; Experience in a college/university environment; A+ certification.
This is a full-time, non-exempt State position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $23.95 per hour.
