Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Groundskeeper.
Primary Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of a Zone Manager, performs grounds maintenance activities including cultivating, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, mowing and/or pruning of lawns, gardens, shrubs and trees using tools such as hand or power equipment such as mowers, edgers, shovels and small vehicles. Assists in the maintenance of the Campus grounds by removal of dirt, trash and debris from assigned areas and transports to the appropriate disposal facility. Removal of snow and ice from assigned areas using hand and power snow removal equipment including spreading salt, sand, and deicers to prevent slipping. Event support (set up/break down barricades, put out/empty trash /recycling cans).
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license required, with 5 points or less. Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to follow oral and written instructions: to operate and perform minor maintenance to assigned hand and power tools and equipment: to perform work in, on, around and over trees, shrubs and buildings and facilities: to work at height up to 35 feet: to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying and frequent heavy lifting; to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in grounds and landscape maintenance preferred.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Minimum starting salary is $12.06 per hour. The primary schedule is M-F 7:00am-3:30pm with occasional weekends required. This position is considered essential and will be called upon to provide emergency coverage when necessary.
