The Communication Arts department at Salisbury University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Journalism/Electronic Media beginning in fall 2015.
Primary Job Duties: Teach undergraduate courses in our growing journalism and media production tracks. This includes electronic news writing with emphasis in radio news, broadcast management, and other assigned courses demonstrating a variety of skills in these areas. Salisbury University faculty members are expected to demonstrate appropriate levels of scholarly activity, student advisement, effective teaching and classroom management strategies that enhance the success of diverse learners.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD in Communication or related field, with strong preference for candidates with a Ph.D. If ABD, candidate must complete doctoral degree within one year of hire. Hands-on instructional expertise in a lab setting, a radio station environment, and within multimedia studios.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the management of internships and practicum will be a plus, as will experience in writing and producing radio news and features.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: In addition to professional experience in electronic journalism, candidates should have knowledge of non-linear editing software (i.e., Pro Tools, Avid and Adobe Creative Suite) and the ability to incorporate interactive and social media into classes. This will require hands-on instructional expertise in a lab setting, a radio station environment, and within multimedia studios.
